In broad terms, the year is divided into two main seasons. From December to June, the warm (wet) season brings sunny days, warmer temperatures, and calmer seas, creating ideal conditions for snorkeling, swimming, and enjoying the beaches. This period also marks key moments in the life cycle and reproduction of many iconic species.
From June to November, the cooler (dry) season arrives, with refreshing temperatures and nutrient-rich ocean currents that attract an incredible variety of marine life. Wildlife encounters are especially rewarding during this time, both on land and in the water.
There are also gentle transition months, when both seasons overlap—April to June and November to January—offering a beautiful mix of climates and wildlife activity.
Thanks to its pleasant climate and constant natural activity, Galápagos is a destination that shines at any time of the year. No matter when you travel, nature is always in motion here.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT QUITO AND CUENCA?

Quito and Cuenca can be visited throughout the year thanks to their mild Andean climate. However, the best time to travel is generally from June to September, when days are sunnier and rainfall is lower, making it ideal for city tours, walking through historic centers, and enjoying outdoor experiences.

Another very pleasant period is December to January, especially around the festive season, when the cities come alive with cultural events and traditions, despite occasional short rains.

The rainier months, from February to May, usually bring brief afternoon showers, but mornings are often clear and landscapes are at their greenest.
When combined with Galápagos, Quito and Cuenca work beautifully at any time of the year. While Galápagos offers incredible wildlife year-round, the Andean cities provide a perfect cultural balance, comfort, and charm in every season.

HOW MANY DAYS SHOULD I VISIT THE GALÁPAGOS?

To truly experience the magic of the Galápagos Islands, we recommend spending at least 5 to 7 days. This allows enough time to explore different islands, enjoy guided excursions, and experience both land and marine wildlife at a relaxed pace.

With 5 days, you’ll get a wonderful introduction to the islands, including highlights such as snorkeling, wildlife walks, and island hopping.
With 7 days or more, you can dive deeper into the Galápagos experience, visit more remote sites, enjoy additional snorkeling or kayaking, and fully embrace the rhythm of the islands.

When combined with 2–3 days in Quito and 2–3 days in Cuenca, a 5–7 day stay in the Galápagos creates a perfectly balanced 10–12 day journey through Ecuador, blending wildlife, culture, and history without feeling rushed.

HOW DO WE TRAVEL BETWEEN THE GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS?
